Mike Van Waes has been brought on to write the remake’s script and is also set to write the upcoming Conjuring spinoff The Crooked Man. The 2002 original was written and directed by Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders.
THR noted that it is currently unknown if the remake will be a theatrical release or if it’s intended for Disney’s streaming service coming in 2019 . No information on casting or the film’s release date have been announced. Exit Theatre Mode
In our review of the DVD release of the original Lilo & Stitch, we called the film “Great” saying it “strays a bit from the cut and dry Disney formula and infuses itself with some very clever and demented humor.”
Previously released live-action remakes of animated Disney classics have been generally well-recieved, including The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast . Upcoming live-action remakes that will come before Lilo & Stitch include Dumbo , The Lion King and Mulan .

Toddler put $1,000 of parents’ savings through shredder
A Utah toddler’s parents are in disbelief after they discovered their 2-year-old son sent more than $1,000 through a shredder.
Leo Belnap’s parents, Ben and Jackee, tore through their home over the weekend, desperate to find the $1,060 they had saved to pay back Ben’s parents. The couple had borrowed the money to purchase season tickets to the University of Utah’s football games, KSL-TV reported .
Digging through the trash and other places, the couple never expected to find the cash — which was inside of an envelope — in the shredder. But to their dismay, that’s exactly where it was.
“I’m digging through the trash and she hollers and says, ‘I found it,’” Ben told the news station, referring to Jackee. “She’s holding the shredder and she says, ‘I think the money is in here.’”
In shock, Jackee said the two “shuffled” through the shreds of paper for a few minutes in silence. Finally, Jackee told KSL-TV she broke the silence with a bit of humor.
“I’m like, ‘Well, this will make a great wedding story one day,’” she said.
Leo’s parents told the news station they suspected the toddler grabbed the envelope and put it through the shredder when they weren’t looking. The young boy is well versed in how the machine works, often helping Jackee to “shred junk mail and just things with our name on it, or important documents we want to get rid of,” she said.
Thankfully, the two may have a chance at getting their money back, according to the news station, by submitting a claim and sending pieces of the mutilated money to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, a government agency associated with the U.S. Department of the Treasury .

THE WALL STREET JOURNA L EDITORIALIZES: The Never Conservatives: The Kavanaugh fight isn’t about Trump. We’re all deplorables now.
The left’s all-out assault on the judge is clarifying because it shows that the “resistance” is really about anything and everything conservative in America. Mr. Trump is its foil to regain power.
Brett Kavanaugh isn’t part of Mr. Trump’s New York menagerie, or some Steve Bannon insurgent. The judge is the epitome of the GOP legal establishment, a Supreme Court nominee from central casting. He went to the best schools and served his apprenticeship among legal elites including a clerkship with former Justice Anthony Kennedy. . . .
The media sometimes profess to be puzzled that more than 80% of Republicans across the country tell pollsters they support Mr. Trump despite his personal flaws. The Never Conservatives are the reason, and the assault on Judge Kavanaugh is the latest showcase of their methods. Republicans have figured out that if the left can willfully, even gleefully, destroy a man as distinguished as Brett Kavanaugh, they can and will do it to any conservative who threatens their grip on power.
Republicans are well aware of Mr. Trump’s excesses and falsehoods. But they have also come to understand that the resistance to him isn’t rooted in principle or some august call to superior character. They know Democrats nominated Hillary Clinton in 2016 despite her history of deceit. Voters know this is about the left’s will to power by any means necessary.
Republicans across America can see, and certainly their Senators voting on Judge Kavanaugh should realize, that the left hates them as much or more than they loathe Mr. Trump. Conservatives understand that, for the American left, they are all deplorables now.
This does seem to have driven the lesson home. Posted at 7:55 am by Glenn Reynolds Posted at 7:52 am by Glenn Reynolds Posted at 7:48 am by Glenn Reynolds

ROBERT E. HEILER: Democratic Playbook’s Only Page: Division.
The current moment in American politics is large, consequential, and just another variation on the theme. This time, the arena of division is not race, but gender.
Remember the requirement for the emotional thread cited above: victimization by an identified class of villainy. If the arena is gender, and the requirement is a villain, then clearly the required crime is rape.
Enter Brett Kavanaugh. Never mind that he has had a huge number of successful female clerks, many subsequently requested by sitting Supreme Court justices and none of whom have a bad word to say about him. Ignore the dozens of women who have worked closely with him and characterize him as a gentleman. Do not credit the six extensive background checks already performed on him, which routinely include questions to associates regarding the subject’s alcohol use, and which have produced not a hint of sexual impropriety, or even subtle misogyny. The arena of division is gender. A rapist is required. Brett Kavanaugh is replacing a “swing vote” on the court and is a known conservative.
Seen from this angle, it becomes obvious why the atrocious circus we have all witnessed has come to be. The Democrats are, of necessity, trying to jam the square peg of Kavanaugh into the round hole of rapist.
If they succeed at it, we’ll get more of the same. Based on her statement yesterday , I’m not sure Senator Murkowski understands that. Posted at 7:25 am by Stephen Green Posted at 7:11 am by Glenn Reynolds

SO YOU’RE SAYING IT WAS ALL A PUT-UP JOB? Russia collusion bombshell: DNC lawyers met with FBI on dossier before surveillance warrant. “This is a bombshell that unequivocally shows the real collusion was between the FBI and Donald Trump’s opposition — the DNC, Hillary and a Trump-hating British intel officer — to hijack the election, rather than some conspiracy between Putin and Trump.” Posted at 11:08 pm by Glenn Reynolds

NOW OUT: KURT SCHLICHTER’S MILITANT NORMALS. I read the manuscript and blurbed it thusly: “The governing classes’ worst nightmare is the voters waking up to what’s been done to them. Kurt Schlichter’s Militant Normals is an insightful, prescient, and frequently downright hilarious look at what’s happened, and what comes next.” (Bumped). Posted at 11:00 pm by Glenn Reynolds
ARE WE ON THE VERGE OF CIVIL WAR? SOME WORDS OF REASSURANCE. Ordinary Americans are much less hysterical than America’s elites. Weirdly, Madison’s scheme relied on elites to cool the passions of the excitable masses. Now things seem to have inverted. Posted at 10:58 pm by Glenn Reynolds
NEW ARGUMENT AGAINST KAVANAUGH: After the way we’ve abused him, he can’t possibly be objective or fair to us. “I’m not making these arguments. I’m just seeing them and finding them horrendously perverse and cruel. Why not devise a confirmation process that is such an ordeal that it will drive out the very qualities we want in a judge? First, it would be torture, and second, you could never confirm a nominee. It’s an inherently self-defeating process.”
I say abolish the hearings. They’re a relatively recent innovation, put in place to humor anti-semites and segregationists, and only a monster would defend them. Posted at 10:49 pm by Glenn Reynolds
OUT TODAY FROM DAVID HARSANYI: First Freedom: A Ride Through America’s Enduring History with the Gun. I read the chapter on the AK-47 and the AR-15/M-16 and thought it was really well done. I love this quote from the penniless Kalashnikov about his rival Eugene Stoner, who invented the AR-15: “Stoner has his own aircraft. I can’t even afford a plane ticket.” Capitalism for the win. HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE: “We all know that Sen. Susan Collins is a possible swing vote when it comes to the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, and the University of Southern Maine was busted for offering a tuition-free credit to students willing to ride a bus to Washington, D.C. and protest.”
Remember, if you’re tired of subsidizing this sort of thing, it’s because you’re “anti-intellectual.” Posted at 10:38 pm by Glenn Reynolds
FRANK CAGLE: “If you believe that when the FBI finishes the Brett Kavanaugh investigation that Senate Democrats will be satisfied, raise your hand. Really?”
Plus: “What the FBI ought to be investigating is Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s role in this current fiasco. Withholding Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s letter until the last minute. Finding pro bono lawyers for her; lawyers who would pay for a polygraph test. Find out who outed Dr. Ford despite her asking for confidentiality. The whole matter could have been investigated confidentially months ago rather than degenerating into a public spectacle.” Posted at 10:35 pm by Glenn Reynolds

KAVANAUGH AND AMERICAN ELITES: Brett Kavanaugh’s Real Sin? Class Treason :
If you’re a progressive and want to understand the power of Brett Kavanaugh’s opening statement in his testimony last week, think of it as the moment that Kavanaugh got “woke.” He saw and condemned the malice behind the process and the malice behind at least some of the allegations against him. There is immense value in confronting that malice — even more as a husband and father fighting for his good name and his family’s well-being than as a judge fighting to become a justice.
